Description
How does Berkshire County’s housing crisis affect your health?
Have you tried getting a doctor lately?
Young doctors and dentists can’t find affordable housing here. Medical and dental offices can’t find support staff. For many people and families, inadequate housing is not just unhealthy, but the high cost of housing may force them to choose between housing and necessities like food and prescriptions.
We need to understand the extent of this problem to address it successfully. For this reason, The Berkshire Edge has assembled a panel of Berkshire healthcare providers, employees, and housing experts to illustrate this issue with personal stories from their own experience.
o Dr. Eric Bush (primary care/internal medicine)
o Dr. Pier Boutin (orthopedist)
o Jim Harwood (architect and president, Community Development Corporation of South Berkshires)
o Dr. Casey Jones (dentist)
o Joey Lindstrom (executive director, Construct, Inc.)
o Darlene Rodowicz (president and CEO, Berkshire Health Systems)
o Dr. Lara Setti (Family Practice, Community Health Program)
o Dr. Ed Weiner (primary care/internal medicine)
