The Literacy Network will present its second annual live storytelling event at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 3, at the Stable event space at The Mount, 2 Plunkett St. A reception will follow the performance.
As part of The Mount’s Community Voices Series, five of LitNet’s immigrant English language learners and one volunteer tutor will perform personal stories inspired by the theme “What This Place Makes Me.”
The storytellers have spent eight weeks developing their pieces through a LitNet storytelling course led by local coach and Moth Grand Slam participant Sheela Clary. The storytelling project helps learners build confidence in language and public speaking while giving voice to the immigrant experience.
