A community forum to offer guidance to parents as they help their children navigate adolescence.
The forum will feature four panelists with extensive experience working with teenagers and their families. The South Berkshire Community Health Coalition is sponsoring the event with the Railroad Street Youth Project.
Participating panelists will include:
• Dr. Claudia Gold, local pediatrician, a consultant on human development and author of several books including Keeping Your Child in Mind and The Silenced Child;
• Dr. Andrew Gerber, medical director and CEO of Austen Riggs Center in Stockbridge and psychiatrist who works with young people and their families;
• Jeff Foote, co-founder of the Center for Motivation, a nationally recognized clinical research scientist on substance abuse treatment, and author of the award-winning Beyond Addiction: How Science and Kindness Help People Change;
• Lyn Yonack, a Great Barrington psychoanalyst and psychotherapist who has contributed to The American Academy of Child and Psychiatry’s books Your Child and Your Adolescent.
Railroad Street Youth Project Executive Director Ananda Timpane will moderate the panel, which will also include a young person who has worked with RSYP.
There will be a question-and-answer period with audience members.
The coalition consists of a wide array of organizations including the Southern Berkshire and Berkshire Hills regional school districts, Multicultural BRIDGE, The Brien Center, Great Barrington, Sheffield, Egrement, and Stockbridge police departments, Berkshire Health Systems, Berkshire South Regional Community Center, and the towns of Great Barrington, Egremont, Stockbridge and Sheffield.
